Six of Swords – Science

The Six of Swords have overcome the crisis of the Five (defeat), the emotional wounds are healed and the element concentrates on its origin potentials, its very own powers and qualities.

In science or any fields of deeper thinking, the mind can unfold all its energies, and the restless Swords have the chance to combine the mind with the mental spirit from which it was born, to achieve a perfect harmony.

The Six of Swords shows that you are in a state of transition, leaving behind what was familiar and moving towards the unknown. You might be moving house, leaving a relationship, changing jobs, going through a rite of passage or a mental shift. This change may be your own doing or forced upon you, and you may feel sad to leave behind what is so familiar to you. However, you know this move is essential for your growth and personal development. The sadness over what you have lost will soon be replaced by greater mental clarity and a renewed acceptance of change. You will become a better person as a result of the changes.

The concept of crossing the river is one that turns up again and again in mythology. Psychologically, the river can be taken to indicate the flow of the subconscious, emotional Self, whilst the fragile craft in which we travel may be taken as the strivings we make toward spirituality. This can often be tossed about by rapid flowing, ever-changing feelings…..but in the end, with sufficient determination, we can indeed reach the shores on the farther side of the river.

So, on a day ruled by the Lord of Science, we need to regard ourselves as moving into calmer waters. Problems must be approached rationally, and objectively. Emotional swings will be better curbed than indulged. Thus we shall find new and different solutions to difficulties.

Shadow: Too much rationalism, distrust

Reversed: Six of Swords reversed indicates that you know you need to make a change or transition in your life but are reluctant to do so. You may hope that the issue will go away on its own and you won’t need to wrangle with this difficult decision. Or you may try to fool yourself into thinking you can put up with it, even when you know deep in your heart it is time to move on. It is natural to want to avoid discomfort, but sometimes you must push beyond your comfort zone so you can evolve as a person.
