About :

Seven of Cups – Debauch

The Seven of Cups are standing for the waters of delusion, the clouds of intoxication, the emotional waters are rotting in the depths of destiny, they have fallen from the grace.

The Seven of Cups also talks of the human desire to experience the unknown, the subconscious, the wish to escape the plain old reality and find a better world somewhere in fantasy. But it shows clearly the dangers of such mind games, when the dreaming turns into a hapless runaway from life. The success is illusionary, just a deception or wishful thinking

In its best aspects, the Seven of cups is a warning to recognize the delusion, the disguises, to get rid of the intoxicating feelings and face up the facts.

The Seven of Cups can be a sign of wishful thinking and projecting into the future about what you would like to create, rather than taking action here in the present to make it happen. For example, you may wish for a fitter, more healthy body, until it’s time to get out there and exercise. Or you might wish for a successful business fueled by passive income, but you’re not ready and willing to put in the hard work now to enjoy the fruits of your labor later. If you spend most of your time wishing but not doing the work, then it’s time to choose just one thing and make it happen.

The Lord of Debauch is one of those warning cards that we must always take seriously when we come under his influence. Without fail, when he appears we must expect to be subjected to some kind of temptation or test. We must be on our guard for making the exact mistake that he tells us is possible.

Temptations come in many shapes and forms, don’t they? Some of these are minor, and others much more serious. The 7 of Cups deals primarily with sensual pleasures of sex, food, money, status.

Sometimes, the card indicates that we are surrounded by a multitude of different pleasures, and cannot quite make our minds up which ones to choose, out of the many available to us. In so doing, we miss the boat altogether and end up with nothing. Or, alternatively, we greedily snatch at everything we see, possibly missing the real treasure that is waiting for us to notice it.

Greed, triviality, surrender of moral ethics are the big problems when this card appears. We must guard firmly against any of these things, holding hard to our sense of love and goodness.

On a day ruled by this card, you need to keep a sharp eye open for all of the above. Also try to monitor your reactions and responses to others – another way we can give in to the Lord of Debauch is to treat another human being in a way we wouldn’t wish to be treated ourselves.

Drive: Delusion, desire, ecstasy, neutralized victory, illusionary success, lying error, promises unfilled, drunkenness, violence, selfish dissipation, deception in love and friendship, success often gained but not followed up.

Light: Realization of false promises and hapless hopes, sobering

Shadow: Drunkenness of mind, getting lost in illusions, wrath, vanity

Reversed: If you find yourself with multiple opportunities or ideas, ground yourself first and reflect on what you want for the long-term. All these shiny new objects in front of you have a certain ‘magic’ power over you right now, and you’re at risk of losing focus if you chase after pipedreams.

Keywords: Venus in Scorpio, high activity, annoyance, disgust

Advice: It’s time to open your eyes and face the (possibly painful) reality. You can become free only by realizing your own inner reality. Any further attempts to avoid this will only add to the stagnation of your emotional energies.

Questions: Do you have a disappointment that you haven’t worked on yet? Have you experienced something that was a little too good? Did you not chase yourself too much, or did you over-exploit certain things?

Suggestion: Drag another tab to the question: How can I change my current situation?

Revelation: As I recognize and accept my shadows, they gradually lose their strength.

E

Affirmation: I am strong in love and bright in life. I shine with the radiance of a star.
